Oh my... this is an angsty, thrilling and passionate read. The latter the author has a lovely way of communicating without being explicit. It's like murphy's law though, what possibly can go wrong, will go utterly wrong, all the time... I would have loved a break in their misery and mishaps now and again. It is exhausting to read that I give 4,5 stars.
I have deducted half a star from a an otherwise 5 star read because of the state of ODC's marriage. They are constantly at odds, repeating their errors over and over again. Mr Darcy does not include Elizabeth in his affairs or seek her advice, returns to his haughty and resentful ways a lot. Elizabeth is easily insulted, insecure and wilful, resulting in countless fallout 's. I want their love and marriage to be special, to be something to strive for. I can honestly say I am very happy my marriage is nothing like theirs. They have passion but no soulmate connection or even good communication after a year of marriage. Too me, this is a bit disappointing.

Compared to the first volum, this had a little less humour but I did snicker a couple of times...

Caroline reseives a very deserved and creative punishment from her brother after her role in the troubles of Georgiana. Through her, we meet a couple of young lads that I hope we will meet again in the third volum...
Georgiana however, makes some very bad decisions that she pays dearly for... She does get her HEA though and so does Kitty and Mary. Mary does run in to some troubles later, similar to the ones ODC have.
Mrs Bennet has some surprises down the lane and so does Mr Bingley, his does not turn out so well at first... The Caldecott siblings continues to stir up trouble and more trouble is lurking in the shadows from hitherto unknown sources. The answers will hopefully be found in the third volume that are currently not available.

I am actually quite happy the third volume is not finished, I need a break from all the misery and find a sweet and romantic tome to read but I will definitely buy and read the third when it comes out.

If you like teeth rattling and heart pounding angst like I do, you will love this book.

ås someone else has stated this is volume 2 and it does not appear that 3 is forthcoming as volume 2 was published in 2010. I've rated this one star because there is no warning that volume 2 does not complete the series. No notice what so ever. Far too many things are left hanging in this volume. Just as volume 2 cleaned up some of the dangling story lines of volume 1 a volume 3 is needed to completely clean up 2.
i am a lover of jane austen and of many variation and continuation novels. This novel was much better than the first installment, but the pacing was still too slow. I think the book is great, but like the first novel, it could have been 200 pages shorter. I admit that I also have a problem with the whole Colonel fitzwilliam / georgiana relationship, and I get annoyed when spin off writers use that relationship, because they are too close of family for my liking, despite the fact that that was okay in that time. My favorite ones actually show a bond that the colonel has with Kitty Bennet, which is actually more interesting to me, because it shows how after Kitty becomes a strong and agreeable woman, that the colonel, like Darcy, deserves a Bennet girl. That relationship also shows a more interesting dynamic because you can take the character of kitty growing in many different directions fiesty and intelligent like Lizzy, or with a hint of serenity like Jane. But with Georgiana and the colonel I keep seeing the same type of relationship displayed by authors because there is no other direction to take those two. But with Kitty becoming a stronger character and the Colonel, it can feel like he gets the 'Elizabeth' that the colonel probably secretly always wanted. (Any true Jane Austen fan can sense that colonel probably did have feelings for elizabeth, but was too poor to go after her.) But I know that that's my personal taste and I wish other writers used it more bc it creates a more interesting dynamic to me, so my problem with this book is more of a personal reason. Either way, I still think the pacing could have been faster, sat less, and the story could have been shorter. And this is coming from a person who is okay with long novels. Yet still, I admit, that this is still a good book.
